- Internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, spleen
- Gastrointestinal system evaluation
- The horse has approximately 70 feet of small intestine and 30 feet of large intestine. Portions can be evaluated for wall thickness and motility.
- Determination of free fluid in the abdomen
- Respiratory evaluation
- Health of the lungs and pleural cavity (containing the lungs)
- Bladder
- Other – other areas of concern that may be evaluated by ultrasound
