  • Internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, spleen
  • Gastrointestinal system evaluation
    • The horse has approximately 70 feet of small intestine and 30 feet of large intestine. Portions can be evaluated for wall thickness and motility.
    • Determination of free fluid in the abdomen
  • Respiratory evaluation
    • Health of the lungs and pleural cavity (containing the lungs)
  • Bladder
  • Other – other areas of concern that may be evaluated by ultrasound
